We’ve just released a new version especially for customers in Germany which complies with German Privacy laws as we understand them to be.

German Law requires that web site visitors must not be recognizable individually by marketing tools (including web analytics tools). Courts have ruled that IP addresses can possibly be used for this purpose and must therefore be ‘hidden’ from the user. That means that IP numbers must be at least shortened, encoded or hidden completely.

Although we understand the debate in Germany regarding this issue is still open, we have chosen to encrypt the IP address on all levels in Logaholic, so the original number cannot be display to or retrieved by the Logaholic web analytics user. So, the original IP number is no longer stored in any permanent Logaholic database tables.
